Parky - Find Parking Faster

One day, I was driving to a mall to watch a movie. I had to circle across different parking areas just so I could park quickly. Each parking lot I drove has a long queue of vehicles around. I was frustrated because I wasted time, effort, and money (because gas is absolutely expensive nowadays and time is money!)

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐚𝐩𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬?

If only there was one place where I can look for nearby parking areas before arriving at my destination so that I can plan my routes ahead. Existing apps will only show where the parking spaces are, but will not show you if they are already full, what the latest rates are, until what time they are open, and so on.

Drivers like me have to guess, drive around, and we’ll only get the info once we get there. For cyclists, they also have difficulty in looking for bicycle friendly parking spaces.

As a driver and commuter myself, I’m surprised that nothing has solved this problem locally!

I was inspired by Metro Fuel Tracker because they provide real-time fuel price updates.

I thought, what if we could do the same thing, but for real-time parking???

Wtih a cheap electrostatic whiteboard that I plastered to my condo wall, a few brain dump ideas scribbled on the said whiteboard, and a long weekend to build an app and I can’t go outside because of a sprained ankle….

Parky is designed to be powered by real people: drivers, commuters, cyclists, and operators, helping each other navigate one of the most frustrating parts of city life.

While I’ve added a number of parking spaces during the soft launch, I can’t map every parking lot across Metro Manila (let alone Metro Cebu and Metro Davao) on my own.

Parky only works if people (like you!) can contribute.
