Your spiritual fitness app
Track your workout and your health.
app for macro/calorie tracking and strength training, with a voice-driven, hands-free cooking mode. The distinctive angle is recipes: generate or enter a recipe, get a per-ingredient nutrition breakdown, cook it hands-free with on-device voice, then log the result against your daily macro targets — alongside an adaptive macro-target engine and a full training planner/logger
Quick start: two free API keys (~5 minutes)
MacroChef works best with two keys, both free — no credit card required. Keys are entered in-app and stored on your device only (the LLM key in the OS keychain via secure storage).
1. Groq — free AI provider (recipes, macro estimates, voice intents)
Groq's free tier is the fastest way to get the AI features running:
Sign up at https://console.groq.com (free account).
Go to API Keys → Create API Key and copy the key (shown once).
In MacroChef: Settings → AI Provider → set the provider dropdown to Groq → paste the key under API Key → Save key.
Tap Test connection to confirm it works.
Prefer another provider? Claude, OpenAI, and Gemini work the same way (paid keys), or pick Local to download an on-device model and skip API keys entirely — see Choosing an AI provider.
2. USDA FoodData Central — free food database (accurate macros)
The USDA database is the app's first and most accurate source for food macros:
Request a key at https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/api-key-signup — instant, free, arrives by email.
In MacroChef: Settings → Food Data → paste it under USDA API Key → Save USDA key.
Without a USDA key the app still works — lookups fall back to OpenFoodFacts and AI estimates — but generic whole foods (chicken breast, rice, oats…) resolve far more accurately with it.
